In collaboration with the Estonian Convention Bureau (ECB), the City of Tartu recently recognised organisers of international conferences whose work brought 50 international conference events and over 4,000 international delegates to Tartu last year. At the appreciation event, 13 international conferences held in Tartu in 2025 were highlighted for showcasing Estonia’s achievements globally and increasing Tartu’s visibility as a competence centre across multiple fields.

Tartu Observatory was honoured for organising the EXOHOST final conference, “Exploring Star–Planet–Disk Connections Conference”, which brought together scientists from more than 20 countries.

According to the International ICCA – International Congress and Convention Association 2025 global ranking of conference cities, one of the most widely recognised benchmarks for international association meetings, Tartu is ranked 94th from 1600 conference cities worldwide — a strong result that reflects the city’s growing international relevance.
“Tartu has proven itself to be a valued international conference destination, attracting high-level scientific and professional events and participants from around the world. The significant growth in international conferences last year shows that Tartu, as a university city, has great potential to host world-class meetings across many disciplines,” said Urmas Klaas, Mayor of Tartu.
